Trident Ottershaw Service Station is one of the latest additions to the Nisa portfolio and the 50th Nisa Express store. Not only does this mark an important milestone, it also highlights how strong partnership can transform a business. With a recent full refurbishment and a strategic move to Nisa branding, this store is set to serve its community like never before.
A strategic shift
Trident Ottershaw Service Station made the move to Nisa in October 2023, driven by the need for a supplier who could seamlessly integrate with their electronic systems and by strong recommendations from their provider. The transition wasn’t just about a new name over the door. It was about elevating the store’s offering and standing out in a competitive location. Positioned opposite a Little Waitrose, the store needed to up its game – and it did just that.

From fuel to full-fledged grocery
As Christopher Roberts, Trident’s finance director, put it, ‘We’ve shifted from being just a filling station to a full-fledged grocery provider.’ With Nisa’s support, the store now offers a comprehensive range of grocery items, from fresh bread and dairy to meal solutions and snacks.
The transformation has been clear to customers, who have responded positively to the new offering. ‘Thank God you are Nisa now because you were so expensive before,’ one customer remarked, highlighting how the rebranding has enhanced both the store’s reputation and its pricing competitiveness.
Boosting sales and satisfaction
The impact of the Nisa rebranding has been transformative. Sales have surged by 9.8% in June 2024 compared to the same period last year, and shop profits have soared by 39.5%. The Fresh Rewards rebate scheme has also added a significant £6,000 annually to the store’s earnings.
Express success
Nisa Express stores are designed to fit smaller spaces, up to 1,000sq ft, without compromising on stock selection or quality. With three formats available – forecourt, food-centric and essentials – each store is equipped with the latest technology and designs to deliver a first-class shopping experience in a compact environment.
The Ottershaw store was just one of many Nisa Express store openings in Liverpool, Southend, Leicester and Combe Down in 2024.
