Retail Industry Awards 2024: Nisa shines with major wins for MADL and retailers

The prestigious Retail Industry Awards 2024, held in the heart of London, celebrated the best of the independent retail sector, and it was a night to remember for Nisa and its independent retailers.

The event, known for spotlighting excellence in retail, saw Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity claim one of the highest honours of the night: the Outstanding Achievement Award.

Representing Nisa, Kate Carroll, Head of Charity at MADL, proudly accepted the accolade on behalf of the charity, which has long supported local communities and grassroots organisations.

Through the contributions made by Nisa retailers and their customers, MADL has been able to provide much-needed financial aid to countless community groups. The recognition highlighted the impact the charity has had in transforming local communities across the UK.

Dorset-based Dike & Son also had a remarkable night, walking away with an impressive three awards. The family-run independent retailer was named Drinks Retailer of the Year - Independent, Chilled Retailer of the Year - Independent, and Independent Retailer of the Year - over 6,000 Sq.ft.

These awards acknowledged the store’s commitment to offering an outstanding range of products while maintaining exceptional service and quality for its customers.

Elsewhere, Childerley Gate Service Station, operated by the Highland Group, was celebrated as Forecourt Retailer of the Year - Independent - over 3,001 Sq.ft., demonstrating the strength and innovation within the forecourt sector of the independent retail industry.

Another proud moment for Nisa came with Nisa Local Northfields’ Don Antony Manavalan receiving the prestigious Store Manager of the Year - Independent award.

Don’s dedication to his customers and community, combined with his leadership in driving store success, made him a standout choice for this highly sought-after recognition.

Reflecting on the evening’s achievements, Peter Batt, Managing Director of Nisa, said: “Congratulations to all the winners, and especially to our Nisa customers and charity team.

"The recognition of Making a Difference Locally is a testament to the incredible work our retailers do in supporting their communities. It’s a proud moment for us all.
