Highland Group’s Childerley Gate Service Station wins Forecourt Retailer of the Year

Highland Group’s Childerley Gate Service Station, located in Dry Drayton, Cambridgeshire, has been named Forecourt Retailer of the Year – over 3,001sq.ft. - at the Retail Industry Awards 2024.

Following a major renovation, the service station has transformed into a destination offering customers a full shopping experience, with a bright, open layout and a range of premium facilities.

The refurbishment introduced a butchery and farm shop area, a bakery, and a barista coffee bar, setting Childerley Gate apart from typical forecourt offerings.

These upgrades, combined with a diverse range of everyday groceries and specialist products tailored to the local community, have resulted in a significant boost in sales and customer footfall.

Since the refit, store sales have tripled, while fuel sales have surged by more than 100%. The fresh food offering now accounts for 40% of turnover and continues to grow weekly.

The combination of high-quality fresh produce and a welcoming shopping environment has made Childerley Gate a standout in the sector.
