Double success for Nisa retailers at the Scottish Grocer Awards 2024
Nisa retailers celebrated a double success at the prestigious 2024 Scottish Grocer Awards, held at the Hilton in Glasgow and hosted by Elaine Smith.
Nisa Local Thurso won the highly sought-after Best New Store of the Year award, while Trinity Retail was named Symbol Store of the Year (Multiple Stores), marking a significant recognition of their commitment to innovation, quality, and community service.
Additionally, Nisa Local Wee Mill was shortlisted in the Licensed Retailer of the Year category, and Nisa Kilbirnie in the Vaping Retailer of the Year category, showcasing the strength of Nisa retailers across various segments of the convenience channel.
Nisa Local Thurso, owned by Douglas Fraser, who has been a Nisa retailer since 1983, underwent an extensive £260,000 refurbishment earlier this year.
The transformed store now boasts an impressive Food to Go section featuring hot bake & bite items, Rollover hotdogs, an fwip ice cream machine, and a Skwishee machine offering frozen flavours like raspberry, mad mango, and redberrylicious.
The store also introduced a popular Smokin’ Bean coffee machine, catering to passing trade, along with a newly installed beer cave and brand-new chillers that have helped set the store apart from local competitors.
Trinity Retail, a longstanding Nisa partner with nearly a decade of collaboration, operates two stores in Paisley. In addition to their operational success, the team has contributed back to the local community, donating a combined £10,000 through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity.
This significant donation has supported numerous local causes, highlighting Trinity Retail’s commitment to community development.
The annual Scottish Grocer Awards recognise excellence across Scotland’s grocery industry, shining a light on outstanding retail entrepreneurs and showcasing the diversity within the convenience channel.
The event provides a unique platform for Scottish retailers to celebrate their achievements and share best practices, fostering innovation across the industry.
Katie Secretan, Nisa’s Director of Sales & Retail, extended her congratulations: “Many congratulations to Douglas and Leslie at Nisa Local Thurso and the whole team at Trinity Retail on these two well-deserved awards at the Scottish Grocer Awards 2024!
"Your dedication to excellence and commitment to serving your communities truly sets you apart, and we are so proud to celebrate this success with you both. Keep up the fantastic work!”
