Double delight at the 2024 Scottish Local Retailer Awards
Nisa retailers had double the reason to celebrate at the 22nd edition of the Scottish Local Retailer Awards, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.
Having come so close last year with their Nisa Local City Store, PGNJ Ltd were back again in the Best New Store category and took home the top prize with their outstanding Nisa Local Rutherglen site.
Following up on her Unsung Hero award from 2023, Nisa retailer Julie-Ann Whyte’s Whytes of New Pitsligo was again picking up an accolade with being named Community Retailer of the Year and narrowly missed out on the Bread & Bakery Retailer of the Year honour.
Nisa Broughton Market was also shortlisted in the Scottish Brands Retailer of the Year and Fresh & Chilled Retailer of the Year categories.
Michael Love, key account manager at Nisa, said: “Huge congratulations to PGNJ Ltd and Whytes of New Pitsligo on their success at the SLR Awards. The new Rutherglen store has been a huge success story and is yet another fantastic store in the PGNJ portfolio.
“Whyte’s of New Pitsligo continues to embody what a true community retailer is and I’m delighted for Julie-Ann and her team. A special mention also to Nisa Broughton Market which received lots of praise throughout the evening and I’m sure will be back picking up the awards next year.”
Jay Javid, of PGNJ Ltd, added: “We are absolutely honoured to have won this prestigious award from SLR. To even be nominated was truly an achievement but to walk away with this category is amazing. Saj and I, alongside our father, demanded for this pub to be bought and converted and we really wanted to put our stamp on the design. We are so proud of the end result!
“We would like to thank all of our head office team as well who supported our vision whilst not forgetting key people at Nisa who work hand-in-hand on all of our ambitious growth plans and bring our vision to reality.”
