Nisa Local Stamford donates £1,000 to Second Helpings food charity

Nisa Local Stamford has made a £1,000 donation to Second Helpings, a local charity working to combat food waste and support those in need in Stamford.

The store, owned and operated by TYS Retail, donated through Nisa's Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity and the contribution will be put towards supporting the vulnerable and distributing surplus food.

Second Helpings offers a variety of services to address food insecurity and promote sustainability. Their efforts include:

• A pantry (open Tuesday-Saturday) distributing surplus food
• A community fridge accessible every day
• A Saturday Cafe providing a free three-course meal
• A partnership with Evergreen to deliver food parcels to housebound individuals.

"We are here for everyone regardless of background," says Ann Earle, Second Helpings' operation team chair. "There are no criteria to fulfil, no forms to fill in, and no referrals necessary."

Ann Earle expressed her gratitude to Nisa Local Stamford for the donation.

"Thank you so much to Nisa for their fantastic donation. This will go towards keeping our services to the community going. So crucial at this time when so many families are struggling. We are currently helping between two and three hundred people weekly. Every penny of your donation will help with this work."
