Making a Difference Locally honoured with Outstanding Achievement Award at 2024 Retail Industry Awards

Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity has been awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2024 Retail Industry Awards, marking the charity’s 15th anniversary of supporting local communities across the UK.

The award was accepted by Nisa's Head of Charity, Kate Carroll, who praised the efforts of independent retailers and the difference they have made in their communities.

MADL, Nisa’s registered charity, enables independent retailers to raise funds through the sale of Co-op own brand products, allowing them to support local causes of their choice.

Additionally, funds are raised through in-store collection tins and clothing banks. The clothing banks alone have raised £85,000, while collection tins have contributed over £200,000 to local communities.

Since September 2023, over £1 million has been raised, with more than 2,000 individual donations made by Nisa retailers across the UK.

Currently, the charity raises over £100,000 every month, thanks to the ongoing support of Co-op own brand products sold by Nisa retailers.

Kate Carroll, Head of Charity at Nisa, said, "We are so proud and humbled to be recognised in this way. MADL is a brilliant small charity that exists to support UK communities.

The Outstanding Achievement Award reflects the vital role that MADL plays in empowering local retailers to support their communities, reinforcing the charity’s commitment to improving lives across the UK.
