Filco helps Christmas Committee to light up the town
A South Wales retailer has helped to light up their town with festive decorations this Christmas following a donation to a good cause in their community.
Filco Supermarkets, who operate nine stores in the region, have supported Llantwit Major Christmas Committee with a donation of £2,000 via Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, in the hope of spreading some joy amongst locals this festive season.

Toni Marley, Chair of Llantwit Major Christmas Committee, said: “Thank you to Filco and Making a Difference Locally for their donation; the money has helped to light up our town, with Christmas displays for all to enjoy."
“We are made up of a small amount of people who came together in 2019 and are very much a reuse and recycle group. The majority of our displays are purchased second-hand and upcycled and this year's theme was presents made from gabions, using recycled materials to dress them."
“This donation helps us greatly as the basic running costs are £5,000 per annum, which only covers the electrician, storage, insurances and maintenance. Within a short time, with everyone's support we have been able to ensure that Llantwit Major is a place to visit and be proud of at Christmas time.”

Filco Supermarkets have supported almost 100 local good causes to date with donations via Making a Difference Locally, totalling more than £82,000.
Matthew Hunt, Director at Filco Supermarkets added: “Filco are pleased and proud to be in a position to help our local communities through MADL funding. In the current climate there are so many organisations facing a funding shortfall and we welcome the opportunity to give back to the communities we serve.”
